Our Sunday morning adult service functions as a living room in our church community. You will find our service is informal, warm and personal. Our worship environment is simple and accepting. We summarize what we do as "fresh and creative expression of the historic Christian faith." The expression is a creative experience through the use of drama, contemporary music, and multi-media, but the core message is one that millions of people have found rich and transforming for over 20 centuries of Christianity. We respond to this message in numerous ways, including: singing and praying together, quiet moments of reflection, giving of our financial gifts and receiving communion.

Real, Relaxed and Relevant; not stale, boring, or disconnected from the issues we all struggle with today.
 

The idea of worship is to recognize the worth or importance of something or somebody. We call our Sunday morning services worship services because it s a special time we carve out of our week to recognize the supreme worth and importance of God. There are a number of activities we engage in to help us sense God's presence and recognize His worth.

Our services are designed to help busy people slow down and focus on connecting with their Creator. The message topic for the day is frequently introduced by a dramatic sketch or multi-media piece that raises the central question. Pastor Chip then will share with us a message. His talk always includes the reading of a section of Scripture, an explanation of that section, and practical thoughts about the difference these truths can and should make in our lives.

We follow the message by an extended time of singing to respond to what God has said to us through the message. We frequently share in the ceremony of communion during this time of singing. It is also during this part of the service that our offering is collected. Giving a portion of our finances is an expression of gratitude and worship to God as well.

We encourage a freedom of expression in our worship services without pushing or coercing any particular response.

Though we utilize many contemporary elements in our musical presentation and the other components of our worship service, we still follow an ancient pattern of worship: word table. Christians have been listening to a message and responding in communion and song since the 1st century. Church in the Vineyard is a fresh and creative expression of the historic Christian faith.
